Educating Children to Advocate for Their Rights

In Ghana, 40 percent of adolescent girls are touched against their will and experience physical violence before the age of 14. Wendy plans to go beyond the academic approach to children’s rights taken by the Government of Ghana by developing children advocates for human rights. The Human Rights Community Basic Schools Project will equip children with the knowledge and skills to monitor behaviors that violate human rights and seek appropriate actions from authorities. The project will partner with Ghana Education Service, Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service, and Administrators of Community basic schools.  Early on, Wendy held leadership roles in school and had a passion for advocating for human rights. As a Human Rights Advocacy Officer at Human Rights Advocacy Centre, Wendy works with stakeholders in the government, private and public sectors to help protect vulnerable people through education and action
