The World Food Programme’s mission is to eradicate hunger and poverty in the world through the use of food assistance to save lives, preserve livelihoods, improve the nutrition of vulnerable people and to promote social and economic development. As Grants Manager within WFP, Trudy uses her 25 plus years of deep field experience to promote innovative partnerships with local government and civil society that leverage women’s leadership and productivity in order to sustain investments in food security, nutrition and education.  She also supports networks for knowledge sharing with Headquarters’ technical units and country offices to identify the approaches and tools necessary for the re-positioning of WFP's food assistance/safety net programmes to achieve sustainability within government and civil society policy frameworks and budgets.
