Advocating for Rights of the Elderly Utilizing Cross-Generational Partnerships

Growing up an only child of working parents in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia, Jimmy’s experience greatly lacked any form of community life, other than a small circle of friends and summer visits to grandparents.  He learned to appreciate fully the importance of community when he became a father and served as Resident Assistant in the family housing unit at the University of California-Santa Cruz.  By observing the needs of his own aging grandparents, Jimmy was inspired to attend law school and become an advocate.  Serving the elderly must be about more than providing services; it must raise awareness throughout younger populations, stressing the importance of community support for the well-being of the elderly.
